The objective of these visits is to provide apprentices and students with valuable trade insight to complement their academic studies and work placements and begin their careers with a solid understanding of the variety of tool options open to them. Alongside presentations from Starrett’s technical support team, the visits provide an opportunity for apprentices and students to practice using the tools themselves – encouraged by some healthy competition with the chance to win free Starrett tools! As well as the practical demonstrations, Starrett’s experts also present a lecture about how to use the range of Starrett tools in a correct, safe and effective way.
“By calling in industry experts, manufacturers and product suppliers, we can ensure our students understand how to use tools and equipment in the safest and most effective way,” explained Chris Walling, work-based assessor of the apprenticeship department at Llandrillo College in North Wales, a recent recipient of a Starrett demonstration visit. “For our students and apprentices there is no better way to gain product knowledge than to take the advice of the manufacturers themselves.”
